Before you start practicing mindfulness, there's something more important than technique to settle: why you're doing it and when you'll do it. Without those two anchors, the practice stays adrift in the category of "things I'd do if I had time." And we all know how that ends.
This course is inspired by the principles of the MBSR program (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction), developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts. It isn't the MBSR program in the strict sense, but it draws on its foundations: mindfulness as a trainable skill, the importance of intention, and practice as a way of life, not a one-off relaxation technique.
This first lesson isn't about meditation yet. It's about building the conditions for meditation to happen and to hold.
